A month ago I read an article in a Spanish newspaper. This article, written by Moises Naim, refered to the current situation in Mexico. When I read articles like this I cannot stop thinking and wondering about the strategies that could help my country. I thought of what the Mexicans could do to change the situation? I thought, What can I do?
I tried to look at other countries and how they were solving their problems. The people of Egypt for instance, were able to fight together in ending the reign of their president. The people of Japan were able to stand together to recover after the tsunami. But how can Mexicans fight and stand together against the mafia? Who is the mafia? How can we fight against a hidden enemy?
I know that I am only one person. But there must be more like me. More like me, hoping that things can get better. This afternoon, while I hear from the distance that this current generation of Mexicans is killing each other for power and money, I hope for a new, better generation. A generation with better values and with better education.
I am far away for now, trying to learn and grow. I see friends from other countries enjoying the safety that my friends and family in Mexico can no longer enjoy. I know that I alone cannot change this situation, but I think we, all together, can make a small difference.
Thanks to Seana for the grammar corrections :)
